After a string of seven wins, the Macon County Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sumter County. Macon County has not had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Macon County saw an underclassman step up: Morgan Cochran dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Cochran has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last four times she's played.
Macon County's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7. As for Sumter County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Macon County will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sumter County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The timing isn't great for Berrien: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while the Panthers have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
