The Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-65 win over Varsity Opponent. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Durham School of the Arts' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Dorsette, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists. Dorsette hasn't dropped below two steals for 16 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadin Haynes, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Durham School of the Arts' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12. As for Varsity Opponent, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 23 of their last 25 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 346-1259-2 record this season.
Durham School of the Arts will be playing at home against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Granville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in North Carolina (the Vikings are ranked 71st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 422nd). As for Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to take on the Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Elizabeth's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while the have been banged up by 15 consecutive losses on the road.
