Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Dos Palos

Dos Palos waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Mendota Aztecs get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. Considering the Broncos have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Breann Raney made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Raney was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Carly Brinkley was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Hailey Portillo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Dos Palos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Dos Palos' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Mendota, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dos Palos will welcome Tranquillity at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Mendota, they will be playing at home against Coalinga at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
