After losing to the Heartland Mustangs the last time they met, the Blue Ridge Christian Warriors decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Blue Ridge Christian came out on top against Heartland by a score of 48-38 on Saturday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Blue Ridge Christian has scored all season.
Blue Ridge Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mekhi Jones, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Blue Ridge Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Pennbrook Shaver, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Blue Ridge Christian pushed their record up to 5-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Heartland, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge Christian will take on Shawnee Mission Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shawnee Mission Christian is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Heartland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Plaza Heights Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m.
