Baseball Recap: Morgan Academy Comes Up Short

Morgan Academy scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Southern Academy Cougars by a score of 14-13. Even though they lost, the Senators' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Cade Henderson and Wallis Gilmore stepped up to the plate in a big way. Henderson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Gilmore went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs Gilmore has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Barron Frazer, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Morgan Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Southern Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morgan Academy will welcome Sparta Academy at 6:00 p.m. on March 13th. As for Southern Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Coosa Valley Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
