The Rock Hill Redmen were the 44-41 winner over the St. Joseph Central Irish when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Rock Hill received a tough blow on Saturday as they fell 61-46 to St. Joseph Central. While losing is never fun, Rock Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 490th in Ohio, while St. Joseph Central is ranked 33rd in West Virginia).
St. Joseph Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Gallion, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Gallion's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Lacee Smith was another key contributor, going 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 3 assists.
Rock Hill has fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 4-8. As for St. Joseph Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rock Hill will take on Gallia Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Joseph Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Capital at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Capital comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
