Baseball Recap: Haleyville Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Haleyville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lawrence County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Haleyville Lions never let the Lawrence County Red Devils get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.

Jadyn Marbutt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Haleyville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Cagle, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Haleyville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Haleyville pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.3 runs. As for Lawrence County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Haleyville Lions duke it out with Hackleburg Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lawrence County, they will challenge Florence at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
