Saltillo and Lake Cormorant are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Saltillo Tigers will be playing at home against Lake Cormorant at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Saltillo's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
Saltillo suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 90-66 defeat at the hands of Olive Branch. While losing is never fun, Saltillo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Olive Branch is ranked 11th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gunner Wesson, who scored 18 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Howell, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Lake Cormorant waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They didn't even let Byers onto the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Lake Cormorant has scored all year.
Saltillo's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7. As for Lake Cormorant, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
