Ashe County proved they can win big  on Wednesday (they won by 12) and  on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  12-10  win over the East Gaston Warriors.

 Maleah Lovell made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out 13 batters over  4.2 innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   five  hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going a perfect 4-for-4 with two  runs, two  RBI,  and one  double. Those  four  hits gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Isabella Farmer was  incredible,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with three  stolen bases, one  run,  and one  RBI. Those  three  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high.  Caitlin Wood also deserves some recognition as  she  snagged her first  stolen base of the season.
 Ashe County  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .514. They are  a perfect 4-0 when  they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Ashe County's victory  ended  a  three-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 12-9. As for East Gaston,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 18-4.
 Ashe County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Gaston, they will welcome West Caldwell  at 3:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. East Gaston's pitchers better be ready for this one: West Caldwell has averaged an impressive 8  runs per game this season.
