Hoover is 8-2 against GlenOak since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hoover 2.8, GlenOak 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Friday, Hoover was able to grind out a solid victory over Medina, taking the game 5-2.
Jack Andes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Danny Holihan looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
Andes wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Lukens, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, on Friday GlenOak's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Berea-Midpark. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by just one run.
Bryson Peffer tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyle Moff, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
GlenOak's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Hoover, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Everything went Hoover's way against GlenOak in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Hoover made off with a 16-1 victory. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
