Baseball Recap: Oldenburg Academy Has No Trouble Against Switzerland County

After losing to Switzerland County the last time they met, Oldenburg Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Twisters blew past the Pacers 12-3 on Saturday. The Twisters might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Zach Hoff made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has become a key player for Oldenburg Academy: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. Hoff was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Holder, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jacob Stenger, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Oldenburg Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Switzerland County only posted an OBP of .276.

Oldenburg Academy pushed their record up to 8-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Switzerland County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oldenburg Academy will venture away from home to take on Edinburgh at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Switzerland County, they will face off against Jac-Cen-Del at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
