The Islip Buccaneers can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They took down Miller Place 53-35. The victory was just what Islip needed coming off of a 41-19 loss in their prior game.
Miller Place's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Zicchinelli, who scored 13 points. That was a full 37.1% of Miller Place's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Callaghan, who scored nine points.
The win got Islip back to even at 1-1. As for Miller Place, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Kings Park the next time they take the court. Miller Place will host Kings Park at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, while Islip will host them at 4:45 p.m. on February 6th.
