The Durango Trailblazers are taking a road trip to square off against the Rancho Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Durango will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Durango's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Cimarron-Memorial with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Trailblazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Aiden Farrell and Kysyn Kauahipaula were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Farrell didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Kauahipaula pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Farrell has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. At bat, Farrell went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double, while Kauahipaula got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Jayden Shuford was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jon Turner also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Durango always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Rancho and Centennial, and Centennial kept the tradition alive. The Rams came up short against the Bulldogs on Thursday, falling 15-5.
Rancho saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Ramos, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Durango pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Rancho, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.
Durango took their win against Rancho when the teams last played on Monday by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trailblazers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
