The Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Lake Ridge 74-57. The win was all the more spectacular given Duncanville's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Lake Ridge is ranked tenth).
Leading Duncanville to victory were Brandon Davis-ray and Bugg Edwards. Davis-ray dropped a double-double on 23 points and 17 rebounds, while Edwards scored 35 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Davis-ray has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavion Lawson, who scored six points.
Despite the loss, Lake Ridge still got an impressive performance from Ahmare Rose, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Rose is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Eze Nwakamma was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Duncanville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Lake Ridge, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-5.
Duncanville will head out on the road to face off against Cedar Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cedar Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine games. As for Lake Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mansfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
