The Axtell Longhorns were the 52-50 winner over the West Trojans when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Axtell lost to West on the road by a decisive 56-39 margin on Friday. Axtell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Axtell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Coldyn Horn, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Levi Leathers, who scored 8 points.
Axtell's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for West, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Axtell is on the road again on Friday and play against Alvarado at 1:30 p.m. on December 1st. Alvarado will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for West, they will square off against Troy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Troy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West in Texas (Troy is ranked 410th, while West is ranked 852nd).
