Mountain Ridge and the Sentinels are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Mountain Ridge Miners will head out on the road to take on the Fort Hill Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Mountain Ridge scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Bishop Walsh 81-51 at home. Given Mountain Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Spartans are ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Will Patterson, who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 39 points and 6 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Brady Moran was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Fort Hill put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 72-33 victory over Southern Fulton. Winning may never get old, but Fort Hill sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
The win makes it two in a row for Mountain Ridge and bumps their season record up to 10-7. As for Fort Hill, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Mountain Ridge was taken down by the Sentinels 69-40 when the teams last played back in January. Can Mountain Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
