Nottoway and Cumberland are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Nottoway Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Cumberland Dukes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nottoway is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Nottoway's 16-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Amelia County by a score of 45-43.
Nottoway's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Anton Carter Jr., who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Kendreyeus Johnson who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of D'aunte Watson, who scored 3 points along with 10 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Cumberland had to suffer through a rough 84-43 loss at the hands of Carver College and Career Academy. Cumberland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Colonial Heights' win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Nottoway's loss dropped theirs to 0-4.
Nottoway took their win against Cumberland in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 65-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nottoway since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
