TERRA Environmental put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Sunset with a sharp 46-21 win. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point TERRA Environmental had established a 21 point advantage.
TERRA Environmental had a senior duo take command as Shannon Greene dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds and Francesca Rodriguez scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Greene is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Miani Pantaleon, who scored five points along with two steals.
Even though Ransom Everglades has not done well against the Eagles recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Ransom Everglades secured a 67-63 W over the Eagles. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ransom Everglades to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabriela Pena, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Pena has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 14 times she's played. Taylor Smith was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
TERRA Environmental's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Ransom Everglades, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: TERRA Environmental have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Ransom Everglades struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
