The Elgin Academy Hilltoppers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shepard. Elgin Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Elgin Academy still got an impressive performance from Chris Tacher, who scored 22 points along with five assists and three steals. Camren Horton was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Elgin Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Shepard, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
Elgin Academy and Aurora Central Catholic will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Shepard will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bremen at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Bremen is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
