Kimball is 1-9 against Hershey since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Longhorns will take on the Panthers in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Kimball's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
On Saturday, Kimball strolled past Torrington with points to spare, taking the game 64-47. Those 64 points were actually the fewest the Longhorns have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Kimball's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braxton Miller, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 15 points and seven boards. What's more, Miller also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Trevor Fuss, who posted 12 points and four steals.
Kimball smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Hershey came up short against St. Patrick's on Saturday and fell 64-52.
Kimball will have to contain Houston Hill as he made an impact in Hershey's last game. He went 5-for-12 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds. Ryan Murphy was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten boards.
Kimball's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Hershey, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kimball has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 39 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hershey struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Kimball strolled past Hershey in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 67-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Longhorns since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
