The Whitehall Vikings put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Newaygo 66-47. Given Whitehall's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Newaygo is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Camden Thompson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Thompson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Camar Ready was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Whitehall's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0. As for Newaygo, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitehall on the road again on Tuesday and play against Mona Shores at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Newaygo, they will square off against Fruitport at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
