The Eureka Loggers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of University Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Eureka's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elijah Estrada, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Julian Goodman who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Estrada continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jahmil Rippy, who scored seven points.
Eureka's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 12-10. As for University Prep, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eureka will take on Del Norte at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. University Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Anderson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1075th, while University Prep is ranked 391st).
