Basketball Recap: Richlands Comes Up Short

Richlands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 47-38 to the Jacksonville Cardinals. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in December of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Richlands lost, don't look at Mia Wells. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Wells has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Laila Chamberlain, who posted eight points and ten rebounds.

Leading Jacksonville to victory were Izabella Hernandez and Emma Radcliffe. Hernandez almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards, while Radcliffe dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Destini Benton was another key player, putting up seven points and 11 boards.

Richlands' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Jacksonville, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Richlands wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-43 loss against Heide Trask on the 9th. Hopefully Jacksonville paid attention to the Wildcats' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
