Sacopee Valley is 8-2 against St. Dominic since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Saints at 4:00 p.m. Sacopee Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Sacopee Valley managed to slip by Old Orchard Beach the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks lost 9-3 to the Seagulls on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hawks have suffered against the Seagulls since May 3, 2021.
Sacopee Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donovan Harvey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Harvey has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Silas Nielsen was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
St. Dominic came out on top against Buckfield on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Saints were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Bucks. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Bucks: they've now won four in a row.
Ben Dumais spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Riley Daigle and Curtis Wheeler did most of the damage at the plate: Daigle went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Wheeler went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. St. Dominic is 2-1 when Daigle posts three or more hits, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Cavers, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Sacopee Valley and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for St. Dominic, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Sacopee Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Dominic in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
