Decatur has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Wicomico Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Decatur knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully the Indians like a good challenge.
Even though Bennett scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, Decatur still came out on top. Decatur walked away with a 69-61 victory over the Clippers. Given Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Clippers are ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Decatur's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Davin Chandler led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Brycen Coleman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Pocomoke scored an imposing 74 points on Friday, Wicomico still came out on top. Wicomico walked away with an 82-74 win over the Warriors. Winning may never get old, but Wicomico sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Decatur pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.2 points per game. As for Wicomico, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
Decatur took their victory against the Indians when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 63-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Decatur since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
