Softball Recap: Concord Academy Gets the Win

While Concord Academy's win against Piedmont Community Charter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Concord Academy Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots 7-5. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly two runs.

Caisyn Berg was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Izzy Williams was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Carmean, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

The win made it two in a row for Concord Academy and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Piedmont Community Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Concord Academy has already played their next matchup, a 14-3 loss against Lee Park Prep on the 7th. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 23-3 victory against North Hills Christian on the 4th.
