The Bloomfield Bobcats will venture away from home to face off against the Albuquerque Academy Chargers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bloomfield will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Bloomfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on Deming with a sharp 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Cable Carruth made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blake Spencer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Pecotte, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Bloomfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Albuquerque Academy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Wildcats.
Brian Valdez looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Joseph Rounds was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
Bloomfield has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Albuquerque Academy, their win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bloomfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .399. However, it's not like Albuquerque Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bloomfield skirted past Albuquerque Academy 7-6 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
