The Glenpool Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Sapulpa Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Glenpool will be strutting in after a win while Sapulpa will be coming in after a defeat.
Two Fridays ago, Glenpool took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 49-20 win over Memorial.
Glenpool relied on the efforts of Rueger Tatum, who threw for 74 yards and two touchdowns, and DaMicah Woods, who rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns. Judah Byrd was in the mix as well, providing Glenpool with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Sapulpa fell victim to Del City's stalwart defense two Fridays ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 30-0 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Sapulpa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Del City is ranked seventh).
Sapulpa's defeat came about despite a quality game from Marco Smith, who rushed for 113 yards. Smith is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Glenpool's victory two Fridays ago bumped their record up to 3-3. As for Sapulpa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
Glenpool was taken down by Sapulpa 61-19 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Glenpool avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
