Softball Recap: Licking Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Licking made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Liberty, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over the Eagles on Tuesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Halee Clayton was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Medlock, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Licking hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty struck out seven times.

The victory was the third in a row for Licking, bringing their record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.7 runs over those games. As for Liberty, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Licking wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-9 victory against Dixon on the 9th. As for Liberty, they will welcome Ava at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
