After both having extra time off, the Stratford Spartans and the Cypress Falls Eagles will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stratford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Stratford is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Cy-Fair just ended the team's five-game winning streak last Friday. They lost 7-1 to the Bobcats. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.
Stratford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alessia Avalos, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Cypress Falls faced off against Jersey Village last Friday. Cypress Falls took a 16-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jersey Village. The Eagles have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.
Aubrey Leblanc made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Gutierrez, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Cypress Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post 11 or more hits.
Stratford's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-4. As for Cypress Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
