The Dupo Tigers were the 45-42 winner over the Steeleville Warriors when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Dupo opened the new year with a less-than-successful 40-29 defeat to Steeleville.
Dupo lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Addison Mitchell, who scored 16 points along with six steals. Mitchell scored a full 55.2% of Dupo's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Lily McMannis was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five steals.
Dupo struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Dupo's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Steeleville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.
Dupo will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Marissa/Coulterville at 6:00 p.m. As for Steeleville, they will head out on the road to face off against Sparta at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Sparta is ranked 587th, while Steeleville is ranked 606th).
