Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chatsworth). They blew past the Sylmar Spartans 115-53 on Wednesday. The Chancellors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.
Alijah Arenas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 28-for-36 on his way to 61 points in addition to six boards and five assists. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in field goal percentage (78%). Another player making a difference was Salomon Torres, who went 5-for-6 en route to 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Chatsworth smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sylmar only four offensive boards.
Sylmar's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tim Tanner, who posted five points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Galvez, who earned 13 points.
Chatsworth has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Sylmar and nudges their season record down to 6-18.
Chatsworth wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 79-48 win against Birmingham on the 14th. As for Sylmar, they have also already played their next contest, a 69-60 victory against San Fernando on the 13th.
