It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Franklin Wildcats ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 65-64 photo finish over Elk Grove. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Elk Grove is ranked 552nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin was led to victory by Jacob Juarros and Aiden Rollins. Juarros scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Rollins scored 24 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rollins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Sandy, who scored ten points.
Despite the loss, Elk Grove still got an impressive performance from Liam Acido, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. KyRee Fultz was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Franklin and bumps their season record up to 18-4. As for Elk Grove, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will take on Sheldon at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sheldon is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. As for Elk Grove, they will head out on the road to challenge Pleasant Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pleasant Grove is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
