Heartland is 10-0 against Christian Learning Center since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Heartland Mustangs will square off against the Christian Learning Center Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Heartland didn't have too much breathing room in their game against El Dorado Christian, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Buffalos are ranked 117th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heartland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Atteberry, who posted nine points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Micah Stone, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 17 points.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Christian Learning Center, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They came out on top against Clinton Christian Academy by a score of 55-44 on Friday.
Christian Learning Center's win came from a few key players Heartland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jackson Bean, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Rhodes, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards.
Christian Learning Center was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clinton Christian Academy only posted three assists.
Heartland's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Christian Learning Center, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Heartland was able to grind out a solid victory over Christian Learning Center in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 64-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Heartland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
