This season hasn't been kind to the Houlka Wildcats, who are still winless after their 16th matchup. The New Year welcomed they with a 59-25 whooping from Vardaman on Saturday. Houlka lost against Vardaman in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 44-30 score last time.
Despite the loss, Houlka had strong showings from Olivia Halford, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds, and Madison Martin, who scored two points along with five rebounds. Halford scored a full 56% of Houlka's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Houlka bumped their record down to 0-16 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Vardaman, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-11.
Both teams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Vardaman, they will head out on the road to face off against Houlka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
