Carter Spring made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Franklin County: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 3-4 otherwise. Spring was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other pitching news, Preston Cupit looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Spring wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Austin Brumfield, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Nick Smith also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Jefferson County fell victim to Wesson and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Cobras, falling 18-0.
Franklin County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Jefferson County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Franklin County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. It's a different story for Jefferson County, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Franklin County's hitters?
