The Troy Trojans are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Seton Catholic Central Saints at 11:45 a.m. on December 28th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Troy on the road against Canton as the squad secured a 69-17 victory. That looming 69-17 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Troy yet this season.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic Central was able to grind out a solid victory over New Hartford on Friday, taking the game 61-49. Given Seton Catholic Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while New Hartford is ranked 413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Seton Catholic Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allan Eagles, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Eagles scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Drew Erickson, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Troy's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Seton Catholic Central, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Troy came up short against Seton Catholic Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2015, falling 45-35. Thankfully for Troy, Leo Gallagher (who scored 19 points along with three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
