Football Recap: Chase Skates Past Patton with Ease

While Chase put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Patton. The Trojans claimed a resounding 56-0 victory over the Panthers. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Darin Tipton was his usual excellent self, throwing for 280 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt, and also punching in one TD on the ground. His passing game has become a key predictor of Chase's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 3-4 otherwise. The Trojans' leading receiver Brycen McSwain was Tipton's top target yet again, picking up 123 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Chase's run defense was locked in: Patton could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Zach Branch for the heroic effort on defense: he. Chase didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.4.

The victory got Chase back to even at 5-5. As for Patton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
