The Parkland Trojans will head out to take on the Emmaus Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Parkland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Parkland came up short against Northampton and fell 8-5.
Anna Belletieri was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Ami Patel also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Emmaus entered their tilt with Stroudsburg on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Mountaineers. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Hornets have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Mari Eiswerth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abigail Derr, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Emmaus hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matches.
Emmaus pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Parkland, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Parkland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Emmaus struggles in that department as they've averaged .535. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Parkland might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Emmaus when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
