The Catawba Ridge Copperheads stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 87-43 win over York on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-23.
Catawba Ridge was led to victory by Lance Barnes and Zyan Hager. Barnes scored 24 points along with four steals, while Hager scored 32 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Barnes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Landon Foley, who scored eight points along with six assists and five steals.
York's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Steele, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Logan Burris was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Catawba Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for York, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Catawba Ridge will head out on the road to challenge Lancaster at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Lancaster will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Catawba Ridge is ranked fourth). As for York, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northwestern at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwestern is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.4 points per game.
