Baseball Game Preview: Green Level Gators vs. Cary Imps

The Green Level Gators will take on the Cary Imps at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Green Level has four straight victories, Cary has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Monday, Green Level beat Cary 10-5. That's two games straight that the Gators have won by exactly five runs.

Henry Geiser made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Green Level is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise. Geiser was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Rower, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Green Level's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Luke Talley, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Cary's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Green Level, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
