The Beaufort Academy Eagles lost against the John Paul II Golden Warrriors back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Beaufort Academy was beaten by the Golden Warrriors 80-28. While losing is never fun, Beaufort Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Golden Warrriors are ranked 72nd).
It was another big night for Brady Mahoney, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 16 rebounds for John Paul II. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mahoney has scored at least a third of John Paul II's points. Savannah Trott was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Beaufort Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for John Paul II, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beaufort Academy will square off against the Mighty Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Trinity Classical Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for John Paul II, they will head out on the road to square off against the Dolphins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
