The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave will take on the Peniel Baptist Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
P.K. Yonge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on North Marion with a sharp 24-5 victory on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Blue Wave with their most commanding win of the season.
P.K. Yonge got a massive performance out of Jessica Bain, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases Bain has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mickinzi Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs.
P.K. Yonge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Peniel Baptist Academy entered their tilt with First Coast Christian on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kenna Cone made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Alexis Peacock was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. McKenzie Zurn was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Peniel Baptist Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for P.K. Yonge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. P.K. Yonge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Peniel Baptist Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
P.K. Yonge suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Peniel Baptist Academy when the teams last played back in February. Will the Blue Wave have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
