Monroe Central had won three straight on the road, but on Monday they bumped up to 4-1 to make it four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Shenandoah Zeps, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Seminoles have posted since April 30, 2025.
Allie McFredrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Jadyn Miller was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kennadi Jorris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
As for Shenandoah, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.4 runs.
On Shenandoah's side, Aliyah Harding spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Brylee Morrison made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Monroe Central will look to defend their home field on Monday against Shadyside at 5:00 p.m. As for Shenandoah, they will head out to take on River at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pilots' pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so the Zeps' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
