Zeeland East is 1-9 against Mona Shores since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Zeeland East Chix will look to defend their home court against the Mona Shores Sailors at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Zeeland East, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-42 loss to Reeths-Puffer. While losing is never fun, Zeeland East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while Reeths-Puffer is ranked 208th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mirra Fenlon, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was CC Kuras, who scored seven points.
After soaring to a 21-point victory in their last game, Mona Shores came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Zeeland West by a score of 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Mona Shores has suffered yet this season.
Zeeland East has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Mona Shores, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-8.
Zeeland East suffered a grim 46-26 defeat to Mona Shores in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Zeeland East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
