If the program's run to the Sweet 16 wasn't a clear signal that Nevada is set to be a major player in college basketball under head coach Eric Musselman, perhaps Friday's news will help hammer that home.
Five-star forward
Jordan Brown of
Prolific Prep Academy (Napa, Calif.) announced his commitment to the program via Twitter, picking the Wolf Pack over offers from major conference programs like Arizona, California, Kansas, Oregon, St. John's and UCLA.
Brown is regarded as the No. 17 prospect in the Class of 2018 by
247Sports and was the highest-rated player left on the board prior to Friday's announcement.
The 6-foot-9 forward made his name at
Woodcreek (Roseville), where he averaged 26.3 points, 15.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots per game as a junior, leading the Timberwolves to a 32-3 record and an appearance in the state championship game.
Prior to his senior season he transferred to nearby Prolific Prep.
Brown has won a pair of gold medals while representing the United States in international play, first at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Argentina then the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship in Spain.
Jordan Brown is headed to Nevada.
