When it comes to explaining why Desert View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gilbert Herran. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Herran has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaime Lopez, who scored eight points.
Jamin Booker was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Buena. Booker hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Deangelo Hawthorne was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Desert View's loss was their 16th straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Buena, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
