Alexandria-Monroe is 1-6 against Yorktown since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Alexandria-Monroe will face off against Yorktown at 7:15 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Alexandria-Monroe and Blackford meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bruins a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Alexandria-Monroe got a great performance from Griffin Cox as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Cox a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Trevor Martin and Mason Fuller did most of the damage at the plate: Martin went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Fuller went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Alexandria-Monroe is undefeated when Fuller posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Jon Aiman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Alexandria-Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Yorktown had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Knights 15-1. The contest marked the Tigers' most dominant victory of the season.
Cohen West looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Yorktown got a massive performance out of Henry Tokar, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Perdue, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Yorktown now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their record is now 11-5.
Yorktown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Alexandria-Monroe has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462.
