The Banner County Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 52-17 loss at the hands of Cody-Kilgore. Banner County lost against Cody-Kilgore in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-19 score last time.
Karleigh Leslie was Banner County's leading scorer, having posted nine points.
Abigayle Jones held things down on the boards with 15 rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Banner County's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Cody-Kilgore, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Banner County will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Hay Springs on December 29th. Hay Springs will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Cody-Kilgore will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Creek Valley at 4:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Hopefully Creek Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Tuesday.
