The Troy Trojans won the last time they faced the Onaga Buffaloes, and things went their way on Saturday too. Troy put the hurt on Onaga with a sharp 54-28 victory. That looming 54-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Troy yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Troy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gannon Bowe, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Bowe continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Geiger, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Onaga lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jackson Kolterman. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with five steals. That was a full 42.9% of Onaga's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Troy and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Onaga, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy is ranked 193rd, while Troy is ranked 185th). Onaga will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Frankfort at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
